Welcome to Inverurie Jazz Festival

Welcome to the Inverurie Jazz Festival. The Festival, which will take place in the historic town of Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland between Friday 1st June and Sunday 3rd June 2012, is organised by the Garioch Jazz Club (Scotland’s oldest) and is supported by Awards for All Scotland and many local businesses.

The Inverurie Jazz Festival will bring to the town jazz performers and bands from across Scotland:

  • Stephen Duffy

There are several Festival components:

  • Formal (but relaxed) concerts in three town venues with superb acoustics
  • Informal jazz lunches and dinners in town cafes, pubs, restaurants and hotels
  • Workshops for emerging jazz musicians
  • A musical talk on the history of jazz piano by the renowned expert, Richard Michael
  • Short jazz sessions in hospices and care homes around the town
  • Closing parasol / umbrella / fancy dress parade.

While the sessions in hospices and care homes are private, most of the other subsidiary events are free to entry (you need to buy your own meals and make reservations directly with the venue!) However, you need to buy tickets for the concert sessions. Two types of ticket are available:

  1. Opening Session on Friday 1st June in Inverurie Town Hall at £10. Artists appearing: The Buchaneers; Richard Michael.

  2. Saturday Rover ticket on Saturday 2nd June in various venues at £15. Artists appearing: Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra; Oceans 3; Dave Roberts; Black Isle Stompers; Nova Scotia Jazz Band; Richard Michael; Quattro Macjazz.

  3. (All Sunday events are free entry, except the jazz meals.)

 Juniors are welcome at all events. Children under 13 years go free.
